How do I find a cheap hotel in America?
I love hostels and other cheap places to stay, but the luxury of the hotel is amazing. A clean room, a comfortable bed, a desk, an iron, a powerful shower, and a bottle of soap. They are calm, relaxing, and rest from the world.
But luxury has its price. Hotels certainly aren’t cheap, and I hate spending money on the rooms I’ll only be in for a few hours. After all, it’s just a place to sleep (and take soap). That’s why I avoid hotels most of the time – I don’t think hotels are a good use of money. I would love to stay in a hostel or Airbnb, but the cost is low, there is a lot of social interaction and I don’t feel like I’m far from where I am. American hotels always feel isolated like concrete bubbles blocking your visit.
Hotels can be inevitable, however. Hostels are not everywhere. It’s easier to book a room in front of the hotel than it is to find an Airbnb host. Sometimes you really need a nice bed and a nice shower. Plus I have a lot of points so free is worth the isolation.
A few years ago I traveled frequently to meetings and other work-related events and stayed in many hotels. I decided to check if I could find the best hotel booking site on the internet. We selected many cities and searched 6 booking websites, Trendingfinder.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com, Hotwire, Priceline, and Travel Pony, in the categories 2 stars, 3 stars, and 4 stars.
Conclusion? Well, I didn’t have a really good conclusion.
The total number showed that some locations were stronger in certain areas or certain hotel classes. Travel Pony won the US and luxury hotels, Expedia dominated London and Paris, Priceline was perfect for 2-star hotels, and Hotwire was perfect for 3-star hotels. Big Loser? Booking.com.
But that was in 2014 and since then the booking websites and options have changed a lot. The only immutable thing about travel is that nothing is immutable. Booking websites are as good as their inventory. As someone who currently owns a hostel that is not listed on all booking engines, I can tell you that it is very different.
So I decided to do another search to find the best website to book a hotel in 2020. This time I searched Expedia, Hotels.com, Booking.com, Trendingfinder.com, and Priceline for prices in London, New York, and Paris. , Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Berlin. I searched for spots later in the week on July 3rd and then a month later on weekdays and weekends (rates and availability change on weekends).
Best hotel booking website:
The best website for cheap hotel bookings this time around is Trendingfinder.com. The maximum number of total locations was not returned, but Booking.com did return the cheapest locations. That’s the most important. We found the best deals and widest selection for all of the destinations we looked for in our bookings. For example, a September search in Paris found more than 2,300 results, including a 2-star list of 250 and a 2-star list of 750. Trendingfinder.com still performed best in Asia but no doubt added to its list the whole world. Bookings in Paris, Buenos Aires, and Sydney were loosely linked in the overall list, although they had a smaller list of budgets than bookings.
Second, the best hotel booking website is Agoda, which still has its strength in Asia but with lots of results.
There are many hotel booking websites out there and I’ve started booking hotels in the United States. That’s why I’ve tried many times over the past few years, but this test only proves that I’ve already been thinking.
The best hotel booking website is Trendingfinder.com. They are always the cheapest price. When you looking for this company, you can always find the best hotel bargains in the 1-star, 2-meter, or 3-star categories.
